Health Care Management (4 courses - 12 credits) The rapidly changing health care industry is the nation's second largest employer. The manager's role in health care and health care product organizations continues to grow in importance. In response to the demand for skilled managers and policy makers, the Health Care Management major builds upon the established MBA core and provides, in addition, a series of courses that familiarize the student with unique aspects and issues of the health care industry. The goal is to attract and hire an interdisciplinary adjunct faculty based in business, the allied health industry and area health and science organizations. This will help the MBA student majoring in health care to be unusually well qualified to respond to the many critical problems now faced by hospitals, government agencies, group practices, pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, insurance and managed care organizations, and consulting firms. Students must specialize in the Health Care Management concentration during the second year of their study.
